If you’re a hot-sauce lover, the Scoville scale is your Everest. Climb that mountain one step at a time with Ron Fartley’s set of six gourmet, small-batch hot sauces. Each one is numbered, but you’ll start with #2 (true heat seekers don’t need a #1 sauce—too easy), and after you get to #6, you’ll jump right to #8. Think you can handle it? Here’s the full lineup:

#2 Serrano Garlic: A garlic punch and vinegar zip.
#3 Sweet Habanero: Sweet and a little bit smoky.
#4 Cranberry Habanero: Tart, tangy, sweet, and hot.
#5 Three Pepper Curry: Ghost, habanero, and Carolina Reaper peppers with sweet peppers and curry.
#6 Ginger Reaper: Maple syrup, a ginger infusion, and some serious heat.
#8 Scorpion Garlic: Plenty of garlic and even more Scorpion peppers.

    As a kid, Ron Fartley was a member of his local scout troop. He and his dad got into the habit of bringing hot sauce along on backpacking and camping trips to season their (often bland) meals. Each trip, they had fun challenging themselves with progressively hotter sauces. Ron eventually started making his own as a hobby, and he’s since turned that passion into his full-time gig. Based in Columbus, Ohio, Ron’s company has a line of award-winning—and deliciously spicy—small-batch hot sauces.

    Chile peppers (serrano, bell peppers), distilled vinegar, garlic, cayenne pepper powder, salt, spice.

    Sweet Habanero
    Distilled vinegar, chile peppers (habanero, bell peppers), brown sugar, onion, garlic, spice, salt, liquid smoke.

    Cranberry Habanero
    Cranberries, chile peppers (habanero), orange juice, rice wine vinegar (reduced with water to 4.5% acidity by volume), bell pepper, water, brown sugar, spice.

    Three Pepper Curry
    Distilled vinegar, chile peppers (sweet peppers, habaneros, ghost peppers, reaper peppers), garlic, curry powder, adobo powder (oregano, black pepper, tumeric), salt.

    Ginger Reaper

    Tasty -- and hot!!!

    We have made it halfway through the challenge, with the hottest bottles yet to come. The flavors are great. The heat builds in interesting ways. These are well-made, distinctive hot sauces. I'm sure we'll finish off the first level bottles. The last few -- probably sampling only. The only thing we don't like about this set is the fart-related "humor" in the titles, etc. (We are no longer in 5th grade.)

    Already bought it twice

    Happened upon these sauces while looking for a unique Father's Day gift for my spouse's dad who has everything. He loves hot food and especially trying different and unique flavors, so when I saw this gift box of different sauces to try, I bought it. It comes in two small boxes & increases in heat by number. He loved the variety of flavors and being able to have a variety of heat ranges as well. We thought he'd go for the hottest ones first skipping over the lower less hot varieties, but he shocked us all when he started at the low end and then got stuck on #3 which was a mango flavored sauce he loved so much that he had used almost the whole bottle in a matter of a few weeks! He eats them on eggs every morning, tacos, grilled meats, etc. Great gift. Fun names for the sauces and good flavors. Would highly recommend!

    The flavors were great but the heat was more so in a lower number than a higher number. Haven't tried #8 yet

    What is the shelf life (slash expiration date) on these sauces? I'd like to combine this birthday gift with another order, but the birthday is several months away and I don't want to significantly shorten the time my dad has to enjoy them.
