The Experience

Stop and Set the Flowers

You long to enjoy the relaxing benefits of meditation but just sitting there is so not you. Join expert floral artist Nsombi Woodson for a 90-minute class that will introduce you to the contemplative practice of flower arranging. This creative, hands-on activity quiets your busy mind while you focus on designing works of living art, and makes a wonderful gift to yourself or anyone who wants to discover a calming pastime (or just loves gorgeous flowers).

The look of the arrangement will be all yours—choose blooms and greens from your own garden, the farmer’s market, or the grocery store (we’ll send you a list of recommendations before the class, but you can go with whatever sparks your botanical bliss). Nsombi will share her floral-care tips and professional techniques for preparing your vase, demonstrate how to find your personal design style using the plants as muses, and answer questions throughout the workshop. Flowers may not last forever, but your artistic and restorative new hobby definitely will.

About

Nsombi Woodson's love of flowers began in childhood among the beautiful roses her grandmother grew in her Bronx backyard. During a post-college internship with an event planner, she saw "a true floral artist's work" for the first time. "It took my breath away. I said to myself, 'I want to do that!'" 20 years on, she explains her artistic philosophy as "Trying very hard not to mess up what Mother Nature has given." She loves demonstrating "the joyful, meditative, and restorative nature of floral design."

A mixed variety of flowers and herbs (follow the link below for our recommendations), lemon juice, water, sugar, bleach*, scissors/pruners, a clear scotch tape, a wide container or a vase, and a Lazy Susan (optional). *Oxygen bleach and hydrogen peroxide are environmentally friendly; chlorine bleach is not.

Absolutely do this!

I enjoyed this experience so much. This instructor was knowledgeable and engaging. I learned fantastic tips to make beautiful flower arrangements. The zoom experience was flawless from the prep instructions, start time, questions, experience and a moment of seeing everyone's finished product with feedback.

Fun class with a positive instructor

Nsombi was positive and encouraging. She had great tips on how to keep hydrangea and lilacs fresh or revived. Pleasant class.

Such a Great Activity to Share with a Loved One Far Away

I had my doubts about remote flower arranging but my best friend who lives across the country bought it for both of us. We watched the zoom and chatted on What'sApp at the same time. Nsombi has such a wonderful presence on screen. She was knowledgable and supportive at the same time. You can tell she loves flowers and understands them and is eager to share that with everyone else. Thank you!

Fun activity

This was a good way to treat yourself or get friends together who live out of town. The instructor was passionate and informative. More tips or different styles could have been added to fill the whole 90 minutes but other than that, everything was great.

Such a fun experience gift!

My mom and sister took this class with me, and we had so much fun arranging flowers. I bought a bunch of stems from the store beforehand and we were able to make a handful of arrangements during the class! I would definitely take it again!

Very helpful

I learned some good basics and tips that I know I'll use in the future

Made flower arranging so approachable!

Loved the class and appreciated how the art of flower arranging was broken down into accessible steps! I feel so much more confident in creating a beautiful work of art!

I Highly Recommend This Course

I received this as a Christmas gift from my daughter. I really enjoyed it. I learned a lot about various types of flowers, life spans, making solutions, pruning, hot & cold water stem baths, proper slant cutting, water changes, grid flower slanting placement etc There is a flower frog on the bottom that you attach the stems to. This vase holds over 40 stems. We had an excellent instructor, she explained everything clearly, great hands on experience. Everyone in the group was very friendly, the environment was relaxing.

Flowers!

This flower arrangement class was a Christmas gift from my daughter. I like trying new things and learning new skills so this was the perfect gift! The class was well organized and instructions were clear. The instructor was so bright and cheery. It was a lovely experience.

Fantastic and fun experience!

This was so fun! Great class atmosphere and I learned a lot - I'm super proud of the results!

Hello! I would love to purchase the experience (without the frog) for my mom and sister who live outside the US. Would that be ok?
